# How we find what's underground

Using a range of technology, tools and documentation, we locate and map underground pipes and cables. Here's how a job runs and the gear we use.

## A job in three steps

- Give us a call: Tell us about the site and the job. We order the BYDA plans and book a time.
- Locate & mark out: EM and GPR across the work area, with services painted on the ground and depths noted.
- Get your report: What was found, where, how deep and to what quality level.

## Our tools

- Before You Dig Australia (BYDA): BYDA plans are a guide from the asset owners showing what services they own and roughly where they run. We order BYDA plans before every job so we know what to expect. It's then our job to find those services on site so you have a clear picture of where they are.
- Radiodetection RD8200 cable and pipe locator: The RD8200 traces conductive pipes and cables. We connect to a service directly, clamp around it, or put a signal into the ground with the transmitter, then locate that signal and its depth with the receiver.
- GSSI ground penetrating radar: GPR scans the ground on a range of surfaces for objects and changes in ground conditions. It helps us find conductive and non-conductive pipes, voids and wet areas, as well as tanks and footings.
